SMisek System
The SM System is named after Dr Richard Smisek, who first developed this method some 30 years ago to increase sports performance. After studying medicine, Dr Smisek introduced the exercises of his SM system to realise muscle balance in his patients. Since then the exercises have become an effective cure for ailments of the spine while at the same time a method of prevention through adequate regeneration.
The SM system is an ideal combination of therapy and prevention of back pain and is used for the functional stabilisation and mobilisation of the spine.
The exercises are performed using an elastic cord which allows the limbs to be lifted against a slowly increasing force, thus activating the stabilising muscle spirals.
The SM exercises can in general be easily learned at any age from 5 to 100 years.
Applications of the SM System:
- Disorders of the spinal column in the lumbar, thoracic and cervical areas
- Slipped discs
- Scoliosis
